2010 Jetta TDI. Feb 14, 2012. #15. 2010 Jetta. I love my 2010 TDI, but at 62k miles the P0403 code came up and pointed to a bad EGR solenoid, i.e. shorted solenoid. The VW mechanic confirmed my code and told me that this part was not part of the extended EPA warranty and I had the EGR valve replaced (US$700).

Car has now been diagnosed with a failed solenoid valve on the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (ERG) resulting in getting no power down. Manifold has to be stripped down & turbo seals will be replaced aswell as good practice to do this while this work is done.

Skoda & TDI newbie, suffering. Had a dealer change EGR valve/cooler, (fortunately under warranty !) on my Oct II 1.6 TDI, since I've had wispy smoke when stopping (nothing drastic but its there) from under the bonnet. There's a fumes smell from near the DPF towards the centre back of the engine bay. I managed to take this photo with a mirror on
